AI for Funeral Directors

Capture First Contact and Connect Families With Your Team

Families may contact a funeral director outside office hours or while the team is conducting a service. A limited phone or website enquiry system can record essential contact details, explain how to reach the duty director and arrange a callback. We build that administrative support around your approved wording and published information, with an explicit human handover. It is not a bereavement counsellor, funeral arranger or substitute for your on-call service.

The Problem

Where a funeral home loses time and customers

Out-of-hours calls need a reliable human route

A recorded enquiry is useful only if someone owns the response. Define the duty contact, transfer hours and fallback route before adding automated answering, and tell callers clearly whether a person is available now or a callback is being requested.

The team cannot answer while conducting a service

Capture the caller’s preferred contact method and the reason for calling without asking for a detailed account of their loss. A concise, restricted-access message helps the right person respond without the caller repeating everything.

Published price information must stay consistent

The CMA’s Funerals Market Investigation Order requires funeral directors to display and publish prescribed price information. The enquiry system should use the current approved Standardised Price List when requested and route questions about individual arrangements to your director.

Paperwork needs follow-up without automated decisions

Outstanding documents and appointment confirmations can be tracked as administrative tasks. Your staff verify what is needed, confirm third-party availability and approve communications; the system does not certify documents or decide legal requirements.

What We Build

AI solutions for funeral directors

24/7 Compassionate Call Answering

Identifies itself as an automated assistant, records minimal first-contact details and offers the agreed route to your duty director. It gives accurate transfer or callback status rather than promising immediate personal support when nobody is available.

AI Voice Agents pricing and details

Website & WhatsApp First Contact

Answers practical questions about locations, contact routes and appointment requests using approved information. It can present your published price list on request; anything about choosing arrangements or supporting a bereaved family goes to a person.

AI Chatbot Development pricing and details

Crematorium & Paperwork Chasing

Flags outstanding administrative tasks and prepares approved reminders from your case records. Crematorium availability, arrangement choices and document acceptance require staff or the relevant organisation to confirm them.

AI Automation pricing and details

Connected to Your Case Management System

We check the authorised interface and access controls of your case-management software before agreeing a connection. If integration is unavailable, staff receive a structured message without creating an unverified duplicate case record.

FAQ

Questions funeral directors ask us

Does the assistant discuss funeral prices?

It can present the current Standardised Price List and other information your team has approved. It does not negotiate, invent a package or calculate a personalised arrangement without staff review. You remain responsible for the price information required by the CMA Order.

Can it support a grieving family or arrange a funeral?

Those conversations stay with your staff. The assistant states its limited role, offers a person promptly and records only what is needed for the next contact. We test requests to speak to someone, distressed callers and failed transfers, and agree a fallback that does not imply counselling is available.

Will it automate referral arrangements?

No. The CMA Order restricts arrangements that incentivise referrals from specified institutions. We do not create or automate those arrangements. Your management team reviews any referral practice against the CMA’s current guidance.

What happens when the duty director cannot answer?

The caller receives your approved alternative contact or callback explanation, and the enquiry is escalated through the agreed queue. Before launch we test an unanswered transfer and define who monitors it. Automated answering is not a replacement for staffed emergency or on-call coverage.

What should we bring to a discovery call?

Bring your published price list, opening and duty hours, contact-routing policy and case-management system name. We can then scope a limited first-contact workflow, agree acceptance tests and provide a fixed quote. No client results or referral volumes are assumed.

What the discovery call actually is

Thirty minutes, free, no obligation and no salesperson. You describe what is costing you time or customers, we ask about the systems involved, and you leave with an honest view of whether this is worth doing. We regularly end that call by saying the tool you already pay for covers it.

You own the result

The code, the repository and the accounts are set up in your company name rather than ours, and they are yours on completion and full payment. Nothing runs on infrastructure we control, so ending the relationship does not end the thing we built.

A fixed price, never a day rate

Every project is quoted as a fixed price with a written scope after the call, so an over-run is our problem rather than yours. If the scope changes, we say so and re-quote before doing the work, not after.

Where your data sits

In the UK or EU, under a data processing agreement, kept only as long as you specify. Any model provider we rely on is named as a sub-processor rather than left implicit, and we will tell you plainly where something you have asked for would put a commitment of yours at risk.

What happens when it goes wrong

Agreed before launch rather than negotiated during an incident: what is covered, how quickly we respond, and what counts as new work. Every build has a defined escalation to a person, because the failure that costs you is the one nobody noticed.

Two things you can check

Big Berri Limited is registered in England and Wales, company number 16562429, and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC119995. Both are public registers. Look us up rather than taking our word for it.
